Boycott Nascar.com

We, NASCAR Race Fans across America, are thoroughly disgusted with the new system Nascar.com has implemented on its site, forcing us to PAY for their multimedia services. For this reason, we have chosen to boycott the Nascar.com website.

While we are aware that Turner Sports Interactive paid a sickening amount of money for the rights to run this site (and they have to make up revenue somewhere) we feel that targeting the individual race fan was unfair. NASCAR is NOT hurting. Why did Turner have to pay so much?

This is the last straw in what most NASCAR fans see as an attempt to squeeze out the average fan and go for the high corporate dollars. This teaming up with RealOne Player and charging a membership fee in order to view RaceCast and ANY multimedia piece on Nascar.com is a gross injustice.

With the new television contract beginning last year, NASCAR began squeezing out the blue-collar fan then. By showing previously available features (qualifying, Happy Hour) on distant channels that many fans do not get – they began to shut us out. For so many fans, viewing RaceCast and listening to MRN was the ONLY way to enjoy the action.

Now we must PAY for this? Not only for this feature, but also for viewing ANY video segment? This means that we must pay to view a previously aired segment – such as driver’s race interviews and short pieces. LUDICROUS.

From what we understand, the RealOne/RaceCast feature does not even work most of the time. Many brave fans who paid their hard-earned money for this feature are screaming for refunds.

We the Die-Hard NASCAR Race fans plan to hit NASCAR Online where it hurts – hit counts to their website. There are plenty of legitimate, informative racing sites out there where we can get our information.

We will be giving THEM, our business.
