To:  Animax-Asia

We, the undersigned, would like to show why we very much prefer to watch anime programs dubbed in the original Japanese with English subtitles.

We realize there are reasons (most of which we do understand but do not necessarily agree with) as to why Animax-Asia decided to have their programs dubbed in English.

Taking these Pro-English-Dub reasons into account, we respectfully request that you read our Pro-English-Sub reasons and kindly consider the following alternatives:

A. Airing uncut episodes in original Japanese with English subtitles starting and after midnight or during non-primetime tv slots.

B. Dual Sound Audio (Please take into account that not all cable companies currently support this feature).

Reasons why we like subs:

1. We like hearing the original Japanese dialogue and to be honest, the current English dubbing on Animax simply does not do justice to the original Japanese dub. We won't mention specifics but the original sounds a lot better than what we are hearing now. We, of course, expect the quality of dubbing to improve but we also hope to be able to enjoy anime in the original Japanese.

2. Watching a dubbed episode is an uncomfortable experience for us. Instead of hearing Sakura Tange as Sakura Kinomoto in "Card Captor Sakura," we hear an un-named voice actress whom we hear again and again in other Animax programs. With respect to the dubbing team, we are sorry but it truly becomes unbearably monotonous to hear the same voices again and again on every hour every day. We simply prefer how the Japanese voice actors, seiyuu, did the dialogue.

3. Watch the lips. It's a great deal more complicated to dub rather than sub, and we can hear and see when the dubbing team is having trouble. We are also aware that more editing is required in dubs than in subs, and this is depressing because we want a translation that is as close as possible to the original dialogue.

4. Programmes with Japanese dialogue & English subtitles have a wider audience than programmes that are just English dubbed. There are Japanese communities outside of Japan, and there are many studying the Japanese language.

Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
