We, the undersigned Loudoun County residents, are requesting that the Board of Supervisors retain a community center in Arcola to accommodate the growing needs of residents in Dulles South. The Multi-Purpose Facility being built in South Riding will not meet the communitys needs. There is a demand for both Phase I of the South Riding Multi-Purpose Facility and an Arcola Community Center.
The reasons for our request are the following:
Phase I which is due to open in the summer is small and will not permit the expansion of services
There is a growing waiting list of up to 300 families for preschool and 100 families for childcare and a growing senior population
Money was approved by bond referendum to renovate the facility on Gum Spring Road in Arcola
We respectfully ask that you renovate and reopen the historical building on Gum Spring Road as an Arcola Community Center given the growing needs of this community. Thank you for your consideration.
