Donīt execute Thomas D. Arthur!

To:  Bob Riley, Governor of Alabama

Dear Mr. Governor Riley,

we are turning to you because we are deeply concerned about Thomas D. Arthur, a death row inmate at Holman Prison in Atmore, who has an execution date on September 27, 2007.

We feel deep sympathy for the family of victim Troy Wicker. Their loss is tremendous.
However we do not believe that taking the life of Thomas Arthur will ease the Wicker family’s pain and suffering.

Please look at the case of Mr. Arthur once more.

The victim's wife, Judy Wicker, also was convicted in the murder, sentenced to life in prison and has been released after serving 10 years. Wicker initially claimed a black man broke into their home, raped her and killed her husband. She later testified against Arthur and said she had sex with Arthur shortly before he killed her husband.
The DNA testing of the evidence in this case was denied by the courts – nobody knows why, because this testing would create clarification.

Thomas Arthur is pointing out his innocence since he was sentenced to death – society should find it out!

We are sure that the question of guilt is your concern also because you have to square it with your conscience. Please take the responsibility and do what is the only way to bring this case to an end: Grant clemency and do all in your power to get the DNA of this case examined!
