Ban Thimerosal from Vaccines in Vermont |
To: Vermont State RepresentativesDear Sir/Madame,
As autism continues to rise every year from 1 in 10,000 children diagnosed in the 1990s to 1 in 166 children today we need to do everything in our power to stop the continually rising rate of autism. In the United States today 1 to 1.5 million people are living with autism with an annual cost of $90 billion; predictions put the annual cost $200-300 billion in the next ten years. Much has to be done to slow the rate of autism and you have an opportunity to make difference.
The United States Congress Government Reform Committee has heard testimony for the last three years regarding thimerosal, the mercury preservative found in vaccines and has concluded that immediate removal of thimerosal from vaccines is necessary to ensure the health of our children. Further the United States Congress Government Reform Committee discovered that studies showing no-link between autism and thimerosal were faulty. More importantly the committee found that the FDA was misleading the American people by saying vaccines were safe and free of thimerosal.
The federal government has no plans to pass legislation banning mercury from vaccines, so it is up to the states. Let us join together to pass legislation this year to ban mercury in all vaccines in the State of Vermont. Thank you for your commitment to helping pass legislation removing thimerosal from all vaccines.Sincerely,
