UPDATES:
a. "We are all ONE. When One is harmed, all are harmed. When One is helped, all are Healed."

Malaysian Mission Schools News Archive: http://www.assuntaalumni.com/media/missionschools.html - Updated - 9 Dec 2007.

b. re. Point 2 below: Assunta’s prefects uniforms and ties are now back to the traditional colours.
We look forward to the names of Assunta’s Sports Houses reverted to their original names as listed in Point 1 below before school resumes in January 2008, so that the current Assunta Primary 1 Standard Six students going to SM Assunta in 2009 have a continued sense of belonging in the Assunta Family. Thank you.

To:  The Minister of Education Malaysia and To Whom It May Concern

We, the undersigned Assuntarians, are closely involved in the developments at our school and are disappointed to see some unilateral and unnecessary changes made which are unpopular amongst Assuntarians, students and staff, old and new.

We seek your kind assistance to redress these changes made at Assunta Primary 1:

1. Change of Sports Houses’ names to Wira, Samudera, Buana and Suria
• Traditionally known as: Assunta, Clare, Francis and Hermine

2. Change of prefects uniforms’ colours to navy blue with maroon ties
• Traditionally: brown and white with beige ties

These colours and names make up the “Assunta Family” identity and character since the school was founded in 1955.

The Assunta school colours, brown and white, are in sync with our school song, sang through the generations. Changing of colours would affect our school song, our identity and spirit. (Appendix 1: Assunta School Song http://www.assuntaalumni.com/html/schoolsong.html )

In addition to that, we seek your assistance to maintain our Assunta traditions by employing HMs who respect and have a better understanding of the concept of mission school heritage. (Appendix 2: In the Media - Respect ethos of mission schools, D-G tells principals http://www.assuntaalumni.com/media/040717.html )

We would like to maintain this tradition as our heritage to be passed down to future generations of students studying at our old school as one large Assunta Family.

Once an Assuntarian, always an Assuntarian!

Pat Lu and the Undersigned

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
