The community of ATV and motocross racers in North Carolina have come together collectively with the desire to secure and promote safety with family orientation in the racing community of ATVs’ and dirt bikes on closed course racing.

December 1st, 2005 the ATV Safety Law was put into effect governing the age and cubic centimeter size an individual will able to ride legally. We, the racing community understand and uphold the state of North Carolina for such law and believe safety is the primary goal of all involved in the powersports industry.

We, the community, would like to keep with the law, while still being allowed to fulfill our desire for family orientation on race days within our closed courses. We would like to design and incorporate an exception to this law that would allow riders/racers of closed course competition to operate an ATV in a closed course with out the stipulation of this law.

All our practice and racing is performed on closed course competition tracks with adult supervision and safety personnel to include local EMS or, at a minimum, a first aid station. During the practice sessions, we divide classes according to the cubic centimeter size to ensure a safe environment for our young racers. This allows the parents/guardians to keep a close eye on the young racers as they (parents/guardians) are allowed on the track for safety and immediate supervision or help. During race days there is in effect 200-500 racers and 200-1200 spectators, about 70% are adults. In our racing industry, we have safety and supervision well covered for all individuals involved.

We ask you recognize our devotion to safety on closed course racing and elect to allow us to continue racing with our sport without the stipulation of said law.
