Let Scoop Coach

The Ashland Vikings Football league, under the direction of the new Commissioner of Football, has chosen to refuse to let James Emmanuel “Scoop” Holman coach for the upcoming football season. Despite repeated requests for information, reasons for this dismissal have not been released.

As you may know, Scoop enjoys widespread support among the parents of his team, and has lead the boys on that team to a Metro title and the playoffs in consecutive years.

Scoop Holman has been associated with Ashland Vikings football for over 25 years. He began playing with the Ashland Vikings when he was on the Junior level in middle school. He went on to play football at Liberty Middle School and then on to Patrick Henry High School . Some of his many football accomplishments as a player are as follows:

1981 Ashland Youth League “Best Offensive Back”
1983 Liberty Middle School “MVP”
1983 Liberty Middle School “Best Offensive Player”
1983 Liberty Middle School “1st place team”
1986 Patrick Henry High School “ Richmond Times Dispatch Player of the Year”
1986 Patrick Henry High School “Offensive Player of the Year”
1986 Patrick Henry High School “All Colonial District Football Team - Offense”

His coaching accomplishments in football include the following:

MYFL 2002 Assistant Head Coach/Offense Metro Flag Division Runners Up
MYFL 2003 Assistant Head Coach/Offense Metro Pee Wee JV Division Champions
MYFL 2004 Assistant Head Coach/Offense Metro Pee Wee Varsity Division Runners Up
MYFL 2005 Assistant Head Coach/Offense Metro Midget Varsity Division Champions
MYFL 2006 Head Coach Flag Division Champions
MYFL 2007 Head Coach Pee Wee JV Playoffs

Scoop also served as Athletic Director for the Ashland Vikings in the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

He is also very active in coaching basketball for the Ashland Youth Association as well as managing baseball and serving on the board for Ashland Little League.

Scoop’s love for football and his desire to give back to the kids in Ashland is what motivates him! He coaches to be able to give back to the community.

Petition: We the undersigned call on the Ashland Vikings and the Ashland Youth Association to re-instate Scoop Holman as the Head coach of the Pee Wee Varsity team for the upcoming season.
