Toybiz...We Want a Balrog!!

On behalf of all of the message boards, websites, forums and collector sites: We, the fans of Lord of the Rings and Toybiz's Action figure line, would like to make it very clear that we want a Deluxe Balrog Figure with appropriate features including electronic sound and action features.

Toybiz has developed and produced some of the best action figures on the market today with their Lord of the Rings line of figures. The Balrog, shown at Toyfair 2002, looked to be a super addition to an already popular and outstanding line-up. Over the past several months news and information has been passed around regarding the fate of the Balrog. According to Jesse Falcon from Toybiz, the Balrog lost out to Treebeard with retailers. According to Mr. Falcon, the Balrog was large, expensive, lacked screen time, and was a bad guy. Retailers favored Treebeard over the Balrog.

Recent information from Mr. Falcon indicates that Toybiz is still trying to get the Balrog released. It is currently being retooled using a 'Roto' molding (i.e. hollow body parts). This will reduce shipping weight and bring the price point down. The Balrog will be shown again at Toyfair 2003 with the hope of being picked up by retailers at that time. If retailers balk at the Balrog this time, cancellation of the figure is probable. No indication as to whether the 'new' Balrog will have the electronic or action features, but likely they will be dropped to further reduce the price point of the figure.

All of this information warrants the fans and collectors alike to unite and inform both Toybiz and the retailers that we want this Deluxe figure and we want the action features and electronic features. We are certain that the millions of Lord of the Rings fans around the world will give Toybiz the support they need to make this figure a reality.
