Ban fur farming in Ireland

To:  Department of Agriculture, Ireland

We, the undersigned, call on the Irish Government to implement an immediate and total ban on fur farming in Ireland.

We expect that the power to ban fur farming will be included in the Animal Health and Welfare Bill and that the Irish Government will do everything in its power to make sure the Bill is passed.

Over 150,000 animals are killed each year in Irish fur farms. Countries such as Switzerland, Austria, England and Wales already have a ban in place. As fur farming is worth a miniscule amount to the Irish economy, and does not employ many people, we call on the Irish goverment to close the Irish fur farms now.

Fur farming is extremely cruel and unnecessary. There is no practical and economically viable way in which large numbers of mink and foxes can be reared humanely because these animals are not suitable for mass production.

Close Ireland's fur farms now!

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
