Sago Palm Plants are killing our pets

Pet owners are buying these plants, their pets die and the retailers continue selling the plants without consumer warnings. Many plants are poisonous, but this one is more poisonous and has a greater kill rate than others! This petition will be forwarded to the legal departments of those retailers listed. To:  Costco, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Sams Club

We, the undersigned, are loyal customers of Costco, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe’s and Sams Club. Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) Plants have been or continue to be sold at your locations. Sago Palm Plants are not native to the United States and they contain the deadly Cyanide poison. Dog and cat owners lose hundreds of their pets each year as the result of no disclosure on these plants. Some children have been treated as the result of being exposed to these plants. You continue the business practice of not labeling the plants as being poisonous and dangerous, despite the fact you know of the poison in this plant. Pet owners only learn of the deadly consequences after their pets are poisoned. Often, they spend thousands of dollars in an attempt to save their pets. Most die, despite the medical treatment they receive. They all say if they had known of the plant’s deadly potential, they would have not brought them home to their children and pets.

Here is what we, your customers want done:

1) Adequately label the plant known as Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) Plants as a poisonous plant containing Cyanide and/or have the disclaimer at the point-of-sale. You might even realize these plants are too dangerous to sell.
2) The plant should be labeled expressly for young children, cats and dogs that might ingest any part of the plant.
3) Additionally, first aid treatment information should be attached to these plants.

You cannot claim you (your company) didn’t know. It is time to do the right thing for your customers!
