Immigration Control

Dear Secretary Michael Chertoff,

According to the Center for Immigration Studies the United States has 33.1 million legal and illegal immigrants as of 2002. This is an outrageous number of immigrants considering that the total population of the United States is at 305 million as of 2008 according to U.S Census Bureau. The immigration population has been said to have increase of 3.3 million immigrants from 2000 till 2002.
Now this is not to say that the government needs to completely stop taking in these immigrants. However, the government should stop the illegal immigration that is occurring at our borders. These illegal immigrants are coming in to a country where they do not pay taxes and are using services that are paid for by the public. These immigrants take the jobs from the Americans who are citizens and pay the taxes, people who deserve to use public services. The government should crack down on borders and stop the incoming illegal immigrants. The policies that the government has regarding our borders are obviously not the most efficient way to control immigration. I want the Department of Homeland Security to immediately deport immigrants caught crossing the border and also to bring down stiffer laws regarding the borders not allowing any one with out any documents entering the United States.
If the government is able to effectively control immigration across its borders than the American citizens that may have been jobless, can now have a job and be able to actually accomplish the American Dream.
