Residents against new oversized billboard in the heart of the Sunset Strip

To:  West Hollywood City Council

We, the undersigned oppose the approval of an oversized, double-sided billboard that was erected at 8459 Sunset Blvd., on the corner of Queens Rd. one block east of La Cienega Blvd..

The size of the new double sided billboard is 10 feet higher and in direct violation than what is allowed by the Sunset Specific Plan. The size and height of the billboard violates the specific size allowed by the West Hollywood Municipal Code, (maximum dimension allowed is 20x60) that incorporated the announced terms in the Sunset Specific Plan. West Hollywood Municipal Code § 19.34.080. The sign that was erected is a double sided, 30x50 sign.

It is not in the public's interest to have such an unsightly billboard allowed so the developer and billboard company make enormous profits at the expense of local residents. Let the City Council and Planning Department know that we do not want another giant oversized billboard right in the heart of the Sunset Strip.
