To: Blizzard EntertainmentDear Blizzard Entertainment,
We, the undersigned, are disturbed that the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) is being used to censor software development. Specifically, Blizzard has invoked the DMCA to force the shutdown of bnetd.org, which was distributing a software package that others could use to set up their own battle.net-like servers. The DMCA has also been used against FSGS.com for the same reason.
Blizzard, instead of censoring bnetd's developers, you should be pursuing the real pirates. We understand that you have a duty to maximize income, and if shutting down bnetd means there will be less casual piracy, then you will do it. However, we will not condone you invoking an unjust law, the DMCA, to accomplish your goal.
We, the undersigned, demand that Blizzard allow bnetd (and other third-party software) to exist for the benefit of your customers, and the freedom of threat from the DMCA.
