Blue Angel on VH1's Band Reunited

Over the past two seasons, VH1's 'Bands Reunited' has tried to reunite many great bands including Scandal, Vixen, Berlin, Extreme...and even New Kids on the Block. Some successfully and others not so successfully...

In 1980, a little known band from New York City released it's first and only album. This band was BLUE ANGEL and it consisted of John Turi, Arthur Neilson, Lee Brovitz, Johnny Morelli and Cyndi Lauper...YES, THAT Cyndi Lauper.

Although BLUE ANGEL never did quite break into the mainstream in the USA, BLUE ANGEL had mild success opening for Joe Jackson, Peter Frampton and the Ramones and BLUE ANGEL also managed to break the Top 40 in Holland with their heart-breaking rendition of "I'm Gonna Be Strong." They also had a loyal legion of fans, mostly in the NYC area.

Since Cyndi Lauper went solo in the fall of 1983, many new fans have discovered and continue to discover BLUE ANGEL...even though the line-up of musicians who recorded the BLUE ANGEL album haven't played together as a whole for 23 years.

Cyndi Lauper also went as far as re-recording some BLUE ANGEL songs for her solo successes, such as "Maybe He'll Know," "Witness," "What A Thrill" and a stellar "I'm Gonna Be Strong."

As fans and continuing supporters of BLUE ANGEL, we would like to see John Turi, Arthur Neilson, Lee Brovitz, Johnny Morelli and Cyndi Lauper "re-united" after 23 years as BLUE ANGEL on an episode of VH1's 'Bands Reunited.'
