Babalola Borishade should go NOW

To:  Nigerian People

Since his becoming Minster of Aviation, there has been at least five plane crashes in Nigeria, each claiming lives. Professor Babalola Borishade, if he were honourable, should have resigned by now. Instead, he would blame a dead pilot for ignoring travel/weather warnings.

And it is not all about the decay in the Aviation section. It is about bad management. This same man sat comfortably over nine months of ASUU strike in 2003.

Babalola Borishade must GO. Either by sack or by resignation. But GO he must. NOW.


Below is the history of Nigeria's recent aircraft disasters:

*September 17, 2006: Air Force Dornier 228 aircraft (with 18 people on board) crashes in Benue State; 13 people (including 10 army generals) dead

*December 10, 2005: Port Hacourt: a (Sosolilso Airlines) plane crash leaves 107 dead

*November 28, 2005: Kaduna: a Beechcraft 200 executive jet crashed, killing the two occupants.

*November 4, 2005: Lagos: KLM plane - On landing roll the aircraft received unknown damage when it ran into a pothole.

*October 22, 2005: Lisa Village, outside Lagos: a Boeing 737-200 aircraft belonging to the domestic Bellview Airlines crashed in Lisa village, 40 kilometres north-west of Lagos, barely three minutes after take-off from Lagos en route for Abuja. All 117 passengers and crewmembers on board died in the crash.
