The Honorable Barbara Boxer, Senator of California
112 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Boxer,

Today, we, your constituents from the great state of California, feel compelled to write you in regards to the upcoming presidential election in 2008. We stand at a crossroads. Seldom has there been an election that will do more to define the future of the Democratic Party and give new direction to our country.
With the war in Iraq taking a turn for the worse, and violence in the region seemingly increasing each day, we need a president that will not only take a stand to bring our troops home but who had the judgment and foresight to oppose this war from the start.
With partisan bickering at an all-time high, we need a president that will find areas of common ground and that bring people together instead of pushing us apart.
In the wake of scandals about the undue influence of political action committees and lobbyists corrupting our government, we need a president who stands for transparency and openness for an ethical government that answers to its citizens.
Today, Senator Boxer, we are asking you to publicly endorse Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States of America. As we have all seen, Senator Obama has shown the astounding ability to bring new people into the political process and the eloquence to speak persuasively for a change of direction. As he has shown through his years as a civil rights attorney, law professor, community activist, state legislator, and now as a United States Senator, he possesses the uncanny ability to motivate, to find common ground and strike new compromises, and to reengage a jaded public.
We need a new kind of political leader: One that is ready to put aside partisan politics and work towards moving this country forward. We need a president that can build bridges and not burn them. We need a president that is respected in the world and can bring sensible solutions to Washington. We need Barack Obama.

Sincerely,
