We want to express our strong disapproval of having the subtitles appearing at the bottom of our screen when you, MYX TV channel, are showing music videos.
Poets and real artists have something what we call "subtlety", or the deep-nesss of any literary or art work.
As an artist, you don't want your work to be shallow because that would determine the beauty of your work. The deepness determines your ability, your craft to combine different elements to form a delicate piece of art. As an "appreciator" we try to interpret those combined elements to form a thought.
We can safely classify music as an art. In art, there is what we call "medium", whether it be a painting, a sculpture, audio, video, etc. Now Imagine an artform with a particular medium, being served to you with another medium spoiling your chance of exploring the art form as it is. It cheapens the value.
For example, a painting, say... Mona Lisa. You come into a museum, see this painting and then another medium, say... a voiceover will say: "As you can see this painting is about a lady and you can notice the little smirk on her face... hmmmm.... what can that smirk mean?"
This "cheapening" of art also goes with your display of lyrics at the bottom of every music video you show. You spoil what's supposed to be, an "exploration time" for music fans to discover what the lyrics say and mean.
So you may ask: If an artist's work is "cheapened" by these, then why won't they complain in the first place? You should consider some things: number one is if they really are artists. Number two is if they really are artists caring about their work of art, etc. That also goes with the record labels.
MTV has done its job in the 80s cheapening an art form of an aural medium: music by making a scene, adding a medium(video) so people would care about the musician's look and sometimes forget about the musical talent.
This petition also serves as a social contract to boycott the said TV channel until they make further action. So please stop. Stop making music a cheap form of art.
