SAVE BRANDON WILSON FROM EXECUTION!

In 1998, Brandon Wilson (then 20 years old), cut the throat of a 9 year old boy named Matthew Cecchi. Brandon Wilson believed he was acting on the word of God; Brandon thought he was an "emmissary for God." Despite evidence that Brandon is severely mentally ill (ie: his God-delusions, implied desire for necrophilia, belief that his television was talking to him, physical evidence of mania, and asking the jury to put him to death), he was sentenced to death in late 1999, and now is on death row in San Quentin State Prison in California.

The death penalty is wrong under any circumstances: killing the killer does not bring back the killed, and the death penalty is NOT a proven detriment to crime. But to put to death a young man who is so clearly mentally ill sends a horrific message to society. It sends the message that ours is a society which will kill someone who is mentally ill, who cannot help his mental illness.

In a civilized society, a man is not killed for being sick. If we would kill Brandon Wilson, then we are not above the crime he himself committed. We are guilty as well.
