To Whom It May Concern,

We, the undersigned, have come together to express who we “the Fans” would like to direct any upcoming Superman movie to be made by you and your studios. We feel that to bring Superman the justice it deserves, it needs to be directed by Mr. Bryan Singer.

We are not happy with the reports coming from Warner Bros. Studios, that there will in fact not be a direct sequel to Superman Returns, but yet another reboot of the franchise. New characters, plot and worst of all…director. Superman Returns was a brilliant and outstanding epic. In his quest to reinvent Superman for the people of today Bryan Singer took everything into account. He catered to our expectations from a story standpoint, yet he told a story that we hadn’t seen before, there were aspects that were familiar but there were also aspects that were original. Singer achieved the delicate balance between both, without destroying what was the original Christopher Reeve films, instead he paid homage to them, the classics.

We the fans, do not think that you are giving the franchise the respect it deserves. Superman is not Batman. We don’t want to see a “dark” and “brooding” Superman. We wish to see Superman for who he is - the ‘Hero’s Hero’, the very idea of truth, hope and justice. We wish to see Superman saving the day with a smile on his face. Superman isn’t just another superhero, he surpasses all the others. We think Michael Dougherty summed this up best when he said “Superman represents that part of ourselves which, no matter how cynical or jaded we get, is always seeking something better”. And Bryan himself said “There’s a lot of angst-ridden superheroes, and I think it’s interesting to see a genuinely good guy in an angst-ridden world”.

Most true fans loved Superman Returns, and we hope you don’t judge Bryan Singer’s vision of the Superman Franchise based on the behavior of the few who did not. It took you at Warner Bros. Studios 72 hours to agree to let Bryan direct Returns. Please don’t let it be 20 years before you agree to let him helm “Superman: Man Of Steel”.

Another reason we believe Bryan Singer's vision of Superman should be continued is because he captured the true essence of the character when he said, “For me, I didn’t want Superman Returns to be just for Comic Book fans, but also for families and also a movie that women can go and see and enjoy as much as men, and that has the components that serve the core fans, so the core fans feel the character has been well treated, but at the same time will reach out to children and grandparents. And that will happen, because it’s Superman.” We believe that Superman is for everyone, not just comic book fans. Superman appeals to everyone.

We, the undersigned do not assume to tell the studio what to do, and understand that in no way can you please every professional or armchair critic. We simply wish that you will consider our views on the movie franchise, and look toward Mr. Singer as the director of any future Superman or Superman related films in the future.

Note: To the people who are reading this, and thinking about signing. I wish to appeal to you, as not only a fan of Bryan Singer but a fan of Superman. We have two options. Option one is to reboot the entire franchise and leave the Christopher Reeve classics behind. Option two is to see Bryan Singer continue his vision that builds upon and fully honors the original films. Michael Dougherty (co-writer of Superman Returns) said “There are a million different directions the sequel to Returns could go, and there are definitely some things that you have to follow up on. That’s not to say they’re cliff-hangers, but there will be questions raised that’ll have to get answered somehow”. Make your voice heard!
