News coming out of Iran clearly shows that in the aftermath of the security forces attack on Tehran bus drivers who were on strike, a score of their children have been beaten and arrested along with their parents.

The second part of the second article of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, that Iran is a signatory of, clearly declares that “States Parties shall take all appropriate measures to ensure that the child is protected against all forms of discrimination or punishment on the basis of the status, activities, expressed opinions, or beliefs of the child's parents, legal guardians, or family members.”
Accordingly, we, the undersigned, request your prompt action in investigating the case of these children and exerting your utmost pressure on the government of Islamic Republic of Iran to protect these innocent children from further atrocities of the security agents.

January 30, 2006

With regards,

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
