PETITION

We, the undersigned are seeking to draw the attention of the decent and honorable Citizens and Elected officials of the state of Hawaii to the following case:

I submit this petition in regarding the “Caddy” case currently under investigation by the Honolulu Police Department. In observation and compliance of S.B. 1665 which on Friday June 1, 2007 upgraded “animal cruelty” from a misdemeanor offense to a Class C Felony Offense.

Maximun sentencing: Five years or 10,000 dollar fine, or the combination of both.

Definition:

A Person Whom: “Intentionally or knowingly tortures, mutilates or poisons or causes the torture, mutilation or poisoning of any pet animal resulting in serious bodily injury or death to the pet.” Pet (Or companion) animal, as defined under S.B. 1665:

“Dogs, cats, domesticated rabbits, guinea pigs, domesticated pigs, or caged birds that are not bred for consumption.”

On Sunday, December 16, 2007 Frank Manuma’s Pet Dog “Caddy,” was abducted from the Moanalua Golf Club by Maintenance workers Nelson Domingo (53) and Saturmino Palting (43). Caddy was taken to the assailants’ home and slaughtered in a cruel and inhumane fashion. Caddy was clearly marked as an owned pet, leashed with abundant food and water made easily available to the pet. The two assailants acted in full disregard and carried out this crime without hesitation.

This is a clear breach of S.B. 1665. They’re actions of torture and bodily injury (mutilation) resulted in the death of Caddy.

I am writing this petition to protest and urge public support in applying the full extent of the law in this hideous case of animal cruelty. All who support this cause please place your name and contact information below.
