Citizens for Change on 71

To:  Texas Department of Transportation

We, the undersigned citizens of Texas, call on the Texas Department of Transportation to re-design Highway 71 in western Travis County so that it is safe, effective and efficient.

We further call on TxDOT to:

1. Fix hydroplaning areas.
2. Divide highway sufficiently to prevent head-on collisions.
3. Place flashing warning signs as needed.
4. Reduce speed limits in hazardous areas.
5. Install traffic lights at major crossroads as needed.
6. Establish turning lanes where needed.
7. Widen existing stretches that contain a turning lane to include two
lanes on each side of the turning lane.
