Background

Plaridel is one of the oldest and biggest municipalities in the province of Misamis Occidental, Philippines. Currently, Plaridel is a fourth class municipality and it has a population of 33,073 people according to the 2007 census. Plaridel has 33 barangays (a village) which is the smallest administrative division of the country.

Presently, there is no existing Emergency Hospital in the municipality of Plaridel, Misamis Occidental. In emergency cases, a patient in critical condition has to be transported to the Emergency Hospital of the neighboring town of Calamba or to the Provincial Hospital of Oroquieta City for immediate treatment. Because of the time and travel distance, it is a well known fact that in some, if not, in most cases, the patient unfortunately, does not reach the hospital alive. This deplorable health situation in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental will remain like this unless; the government will take the necessary action of providing the much needed Emergency Hospital.
