Non au massacre des Elephants du Parc Kruger!!!





No to the Murder of the Kruger Park's elephants !! (See the English text below)





A partir du 1er mai, des miliers d'elephants seront abbatus si nous ne faisons rien !


Signez et faites signer la pétition avant le 25/04 pour empêcher ce massacre!!!





Le grand défenseur des éléphants, le Dr Pierre Pfeffer, nous alerte :





Le Gouvernement d’Afrique du Sud a annoncé son intention de reprendre les abattages des éléphants à l’intérieur du Parc National Krüger afin de prévenir les dégâts qu’ils pourraient causer à la végétation. Or, le parc Krüger couvre plus de 2 millions d’ha et pourrait abriter sans dommages au moins 15 000 éléphants.





Pour le moment, il en compterait moins de 13 000 et aucun dégât n’a été constaté ! La seule solution écologique et honnête, consisterait à abattre la clôture du parc, limitrophe du Mozambique, afin de permettre aux éléphants de regagner leur territoire d’origine. Solution que rejettent les responsables du Parc Krüger, pour des motifs bassement mercantiles : entre 1966 et 1995, ils ont abattu plus de 16000 éléphants et tiraient un substantiel bénéfice de la commercialisation, dans les boutiques du parc du fruit de ces opérations: bibelots et bijoux d'ivoire, bracelets en poils et maroquinerie en peau d'élé-phants, viande d'éléphant en conserve ou fumée, etc...





Les éléphanteaux étaient vendus à des mar-chands d'animaux et - toujours cela de gagné ! - 66\% de la viande fraîche faisait partie du salaire des gardes et du personnel du parc !!! (voir tous les détails de ce dossier sur : http://secas.free.fr/)





Par cette pétition, nous demandons à M. Marthinus Van Schalkwyk, Ministre de l’Environnement et du Tourisme d’Afrique du Sud, d’interdire les abattages à l’intérieur du Krüger National Park et la suppression de la clôture vers le Mozambique.

It is with stupefaction that we are informed about new culling reopening in may 2008.





I personally never believed that there was too many elephants in Kruger park, less than 13 000 in 2 000 000 hectares it is not a high density.


Excepted for Krugers park managers .... we thought that these people were better minded towards the nature process than in the past !





Furthermore the new Limpopo park in Mozambique needs to recover with the wildlife. Putting down the fences as it was planned with the transfrontier park would allow a free movement of all the wildlife.





In this huge wildlife area attracting more than one million visitors per year - and it is nothing with the increase in the next years - coming back to such methods is not only cruel but economically stupid and of course doesn't support any argument on an ecological plan.





It is time that south african government understands that there is not too much elephants in south africa ( and in Africa ) but on contrary not enough !!





It is the elephant who gave us these beautiful forest, these lovely savannahs and these wonderful african sceneries.





And it is the man who criminally destroyed all the nature and still carries on.





STOP THE CULLING - OPEN THE FENCES TO MOZAMBIQUE
