Club system for deviantART

To:  deviantART staff

Hello! This is a friendly petition to confirm that a club system in deviantART is wanted by the community. :D We understand that the deviantART mods are busy, but we also know they are sensitive to the needs of the community, hence this petition. ^^ We are not demanding anything.

It had been mentioned to the author of this petition by deviantART staff that a club system is currently being developed by deviantART, however, a specific time for completion could not be given.

Using other art sites as examples (even though this may differ from the system which deviantART implements), a club system would involve members submitting their own art directly to the club - the thumbnail would provide a link to the original piece but would appear in the inbox to every member who watches the club. No need for clubs to submit their own version and link to the original piece.

A club system would save time

1) for club moderators
- no need to check that permission is granted from the original artist
- no need to submit the art
- no need to add members (perhaps anyone who watches a club is added)
- no need to ask members who accidentally fave or collect a club piece, to remove that fave (this is the big time-eater for mods!)

2) for club members
- as clicking on a thumbnail would provide a direct link, it saves time - no need to click on the club's piece, and then follow the link to the original to fave that
- also, since it would then be impossible to fave anything other than the original piece, time saved from not having to un-fave club gallery pieces. :)
- no need to give permission for the club to host their piece, since the member would submit their piece to the club (i.e. has full control over the process)

3) for deviantART staff
- it is well-known that deviantART staff are diligent in making sure that rules are adhered to, so it would save time for staff because it removes a source of improperly-submitted material. For example, if the member wanted their piece submitted but didn't expressly give permission or use the creative commons licence, and the club submitted it, it would seem to deviantART staff that the piece was stolen by the club, and then it would be removed. Since this mistake is mostly innocent, it would allow staff to focus on other things where the breaking of rules is intended.


There may be more benefits of a club system, however, these are probably the main points.
