Stigma and Discrimination

We, the undersigned, request that NAMI StigmaBusters remove any and all reference to the Lunatix Online game from their December 2002 Stigma Busters webpage. The very people whom NAMI claims to represent are regularly denied housing, employment and their most basic constitutional rights as a result of the stereotypes that this game "parodies." In posting an apology to its owners on the StigamBusters webpage, NAMI has not only condoned this game, but has, in effect, promoted the game. We respectfully remind NAMI that the opening paragraph on this webpage states that NAMI StigmaBusters are advocates dedicated to "fighting pervasive, hurtful prejudice and discrimination that exists toward people with mental illnesses..."
