Get Andrew Coates into FTHS

This petition is being made in an attempt to get Andrew Coates into Foothill Technology High School for the 2008-2009 school year. Since 5th grade, Andrew has had his eyes on Foothill as the ideal high school for him. The fact that lottery did not accept him into the school is the textbook definition of irony. But what's more? He was rejected twice. He was told that he was almost assured a spot into the school his Sophomore year. This was obviously not the case. He has quite a resume as well. He has performed in several plays at the Rubicon Theatre, such as Babes in Arms, Bye Bye Birdie, and Midsummer's Nights Dream (his bio for Babes in Arms included how much he wishes to go to Foothill). He is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a well rounded musician. He has gotten nothing less than a 3.5 GPA in the past years of school. Come this fall he will be enrolled in 3 honors classes. He was enrolled in two his Freshman year. He has heard numerous times from friends and colleagues that he embodies the perfect Foothill student. He has many friends at Foothill who he would love to join at this school. He was let down enough at the beginning of his Freshman year when he was not permitted into the school in the first place. But he had hope--hope to go the next year. But when he learned that he could not go the next year either--to say he is disappointed is the ultimate understatement. All we are asking of Mr. Bova is that he makes one small exception, and admit Andrew into Foothill.
