Endorsing Sustainable Campus at the College of Charleston

As a Student/Faculty of the College of Charleston, I ___________________ feel strongly that it is the civic responsibility of the College of Charleston to join the growing number of colleges and universities across the country, that are making real, meaningful strides toward environmental sustainability. As such, I fully support an initiative on the part of the CofC campus administration to achieve a commendable level of environmental responsibility in the everyday operations of the college. At the very minimum, an effective campus-wide recycling program, considerable steps toward paper waste reduction and energy and water conservation, environmentally friendly dining options and a framework for “green” purchasing decisions are essential. To stimulate this initiative, I strongly support the formation of a full-time, paid, Environmental Coordinator position at the College of Charleston, and the official commissioning of an Environmental Sustainability Committee to guide, support and augment the Environmental Coordinator position. Thank you for considering my input as a member of this campus community.
