IRS Investigation into the Church of Scientology

To:  US Politicians, Journalists and the IRS

We the undersigned have become increasingly concerned, over the course of the past several years, as to the abuses enacted by the Church of Scientology. We feel that they have committed illegal acts, including fraud, extortion, frivolous litigation and have behaved much more like a business than like a church. Because of these concerns we ask the IRS to immediately open an investigation regarding the continued 501(c)(3) status, as the Church of Scientology exists in violation of IRS code. Furthermore they have created groups to lobby politicians and political bodies to hinder and dismantle psychiatric care in the United States and abroad, something expressly forbidden under IRS code. And the whole while, they draw exorbitant member fees. Fees so extreme that they are not becoming of a charitable organization, and should be taxed!
