Objection to Supermarket Development in Craigmillar

This petition is to register our formal objections to the following planning application:

Ref No.: 08/02553/OUT – Craigmillar Town Centre Masterplan

We would like to object on the following grounds:

•The lack of meaningful consultation in relation to this planning application, particularly concerning the development of a new supermarket and associated infrastructure.

•The negative impact that a new supermarket development would have on the surrounding road networks within the Craigmillar area.

•The access to the shared car park and the proposals to put large volumes of domestic and commercial traffic through a residential area.

•The proposals to demolish the former St Francis Primary School building.

•The lack of any in depth traffic impact study.

We believe the City of Edinburgh Council’s Transport Department and Historic Scotland have raised serious concerns about the town centre proposals and we would ask that this application is revisted and the plans to development a supermarket are withdrawn.
