Senator James A. Alesi of the 55th district, Senator Joseph E. Robach of the 56th district, and George D. Maziaraz of the 62nd district, we, your constituents demand that you not only support bill A07732, the same sex marriage bill, but also to fight for it to be brought to the floor for a vote.

Marriage is the ultimate declaration of love. However, members of our community, the lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders (LGBT) are not allowed to marry their same sex partners. This blatant inequality doesnt just restrict members of the LGBT to the symbolic nature of marriage, it also restricts rights in relation to automatic inheritance, child custody/parenting/adoption rights, medical decision-making power, healthcare, access to family insurance policies, retirement plans, federal taxes and much more. To ignore the rights of an entire community should not be allowed New York State, The United States of America, or anywhere.
