Daisuke Matsuzaka, Not "D-Mat"

With the recent signing of Daisuke Matsuzaka by the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball comes an unfortunate result: the dubbing of Mr. Matsuzaka as "D-Mat." This nickname, while not only ignoring other nicknames that the player also has, appears to be nothing other than a marketing ploy on the part of superagent Scott Boras. Mr. Boras was also the creator the "A-Rod" nickname for Alex Rodriguez. Mr. Matsuzaka already has a nickname - "Kaibatsu" or "Monster." His established nickname should be respected and he should not be turned into some demeaning trademark.

This petition is to stop all mentions of Daisuke Matsuzaka, an already popular news feature and sure to become even more popular as the 2007 MLB season approached, as "D-Mat."
