To the NRA and Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey TD

We the undersigned are extremely concerned about the lack of investment in maintaining the N72 Mallow/Fermoy and N73 Mallow/Mitchelstown roads.

Large sections of these roads have not been resurfaced or realigned for many years. There have been numerous accidents. Some of the junctions are very dangerous and safety measures need to be taken to protect both pedestrian and motorist.

These are national secondary routes and are vital arteries. They should not be further downgraded through lack of investment.

The Non-National roads allocation for Cork County ranks 27 of 29 local authorities per km. We feel this is unjust given that County Cork has the largest number of Kilometres of roadway.

We call on the Minister for Transport to insure proper maintenance of these two roads to lessen the risk of accidents.
