Dear FUNimation and Cartoon Network,
Recently you announced that Seasons 3-12 (and , probably 13+ ) of the anime series Detective Conan ( Or , as you have titled it , Case Closed ) will not be aired on Cartoon Networks [adult swim] programming block. I am very disappointed by this , as many AS viewers have become interested in the series . You were trying to give a niche genre a chance ,and suddenly you throw it away and plan to replace it with Super Milk-chan. Detective Conan is a fantastic series , if it wasnt , then Japan wouldnt have almost 400 episodes aired by now. Give the series a chance on television . And also , unfortunately , the series itself HAS become childish. If there is one thing people are annoyed by about the series , its that they call it too kiddy. Multiple lines sound ridiculous , as do almost every joke made. Youve done a rather bad dub of the series , to be honest , you need to fix this problem. I suggest you release More DVDs , keep 1 hour and 2 hour long episodes INTACT (Dont splice the darn things into 30 minute chunks! ) .
Furthermore, please stop all of the name changes , it causes the series to lose its authenticity (A boy living in Japan wouldnt have the name Jimmy , you should have left his name as Shinichi) . If youre going to have a series set in Japan , you should keep the character names , rather than westernizing the series , its not a good idea , ever. This is especially the case with DC , as there is a lot of Japanese culture within the series (in my opinion , that is ) .
I suggest keeping the series on adult swim , please.
Its more popular than you think. What you can do is keep it on , release DVDs , hey , even try putting the movies in theaters to get the show to gain popularity! I suggest that , among other things. Releasing the Game Boy Advance game that came out in Japan might be a good idea too. I just think that youre not giving the series a chance, you seem to think the only type of anime series that will do well on American television is action , which is VERY stereotypical , its the reason anime is mocked so often by American cartoons . Try to prove all of them wrong by airing more of Case Closed/Detective Conan , please! It would be a smart idea to introduce American audiences to a less known genre of anime , the mystery/detective genre. Please , change your minds about the decision you made! On behalf of all fans of either Detective Conan OR Case Closed , please listen to the opinions of people who have signed this petition.
