Discrimination against any human being on the basis of race, sex, ethnicity, color or sexual orientation is a violation of a basic human right. Dunkin Donuts Beirut has repeatedly violated this right asking queer community members to leave the premises under the excuses of keeping the atmosphere healthy for families based on a statement by its general manager in Beirut Christine Asouwad Sfeir.
Queer men of all nationalities whether locals or tourists have been repeatedly asked to leave the premises whether in Ashrafieh or at the Down Town branch.
All humans are equal, thus queer community members - who have been a regular stream among the customers of Dunkin Donuts Beirut - are entitled to the same standards and services as any other customer.
Thus we demand an immediate halt of such actions once and forever, and a press release from the mother company and the Lebanese local branches clarifying the issue and stating that queer members are welcomed on the premises of Dunkin Donuts worldwide (INCLUDING Beirut) and will be offered the same services and privileges just like any other customer .
Dunkin Donuts is a food and beverages franchise and is by no means - just like any other person or corporation - in any position to judge anyone based on his/her sexual identity, race, sex, ethnicity or religion.
Until that is cleared out and the demands are fulfilled, we the undersigned, out of our concern for human rights and the protection of the rights of all minorities are refraining from buying any products produced, marketed for, or sold by Dunkin Donuts in Beirut and worldwide.
