For 8 long and harrowing years, the Edmonton Oilers have been content with perpetual mediocrity.

Even in their finest modern moment, the Oilers barely stumbled into the playoffs.

Why is this still the acceptable standard?

It is not fathomable to hit 95-100 points and win a division?

Or is it just easier to be down 4-1 and then coast the final 30 minutes of an important home game?

You may not see a difference in ticket sales, but you're going to feel it from the fans. Two of the worst home losses in Oiler history within the span of 3 weeks tends to do that.

Even in the days of Andrei Kovalenko and Boris Mirnov when Joe Sakic and crew stormed into Edmonton and dominated, there was never a loss even close to the magnitude we've seen twice this year.

This isn't specifically a call for a coaching change.

This is a call for change. Period.
