We the undersigned are incredulous at the lack of attention State officials have given to Belleayre Mt. Ski Center.

We understand Belleayre is the economic lynch pin of the Rt. 28 corridor and that continued neglect consigns the entire region to a future of poverty and decay. The economic survival of our area is at stake.

We decry the continued investment of millions and millions of dollars in Gore and Whiteface while Belleayre continues to get the short stick. Finally,

We are outraged that after two years of work, the NYS DEC has still not completed and will not release, any Unit Management Plan for Belleayre Mt. This is not a funding issue because UMPs are not funding documents. They are merely blueprints for what the State would like to do in management of a given property.
Without a UMP, no funding requests can even be considered.

We support Belleayre Mt. Ski Center and demand the completion and release of the Unit Management Plan that has been developed over the last two years. Further,
We demand that funding to begin the first phases of expansion at Belleayre Mt. be allocated in the coming years budget. This investment, whether in state funds or federal Stimulus money for Belleayre would result in immediate construction as well as permanent jobs to an area in desperate economic straits. This investment in state-owned facilities will return hundreds of thousands in revenue every year, helping return tax dollars to ALL New Yorkers, not just those in the Catskills and those who ski.
