We, the undersigned, claim that the problems of overcrowding (such as beach waste and traffic) are human problems and not animal problems, and as such banning the use of the Balboa Island public beach from all dogs is a misappropriation of blame on the part of human beings, and will only result in increasing the ownership rights of the very few on what is otherwise public property.

Though we understand the reasoning behind the requested ban, we also feel that Balboa Island residents are not prepared for the resulting perception of the island as dog free. I, for one, will not be doing any further business on such an island, be it in a shop or bookstore or rental home or restaurant or frozen banana stand.

I will really miss those frozen bananas.
