Broadband to Rural Areas of Patrick Co, Va

This petition is for broadband connectivity in the rural areas of Patrick Co. Up until now, the voice of rural citizens, living outside the major areas of the county, have been stuck with dial up, high cost satellite, or nothing at all. Companies have connected most of the county with internet, but abandoned the areas that they felt would not be profitable to them. Now we have The Broadband Task Force, which was formed by Roger Hayden, to come up with a plan to extend services to areas of the county that have no form of high speed internet. We feel that services should not be provided to one area of the county, and not the rest, as grant money was given to provide services and better this county as a whole, not nit-pick areas and forget others. Roger and I are working diligently with the Patrick County Board of Supervisors, wireless companies, and the local telephone suppliers to handle this task. We are are also working with the county on a plan to extend high speed internet wirelessly to our homes, to eliminate costly fiber/cable runs. We are standing up for you Patrick County, and we need your support! We are letting it be known that we are tired of being left behind. It is our goal, to supply EVERYONE as quickly as possible, the opportunity to receive broadband internet service. By signing this petition, you are letting it be known that you are supporting us, as well as showing your support to the County Supervisors, asking they pursue any means necessary to provide the services. You are also letting it be known that there is a need, and high demand for the service in your area. We will keep working on this until we have completed our goal, because here in the Broadband Taskforce, we believe that highspeed internet connectivity is a necessity, not a want!
