Dear Reader.
This petition has been created to voice an opinion on the issue of censorship of homosexual people in the media. On the morning of the 2nd of March, 2003, whilst watching the Coca-Cola Chart Show, it became apparent to me that videos of a homosexual nature had been edited. For example, Christina Aguileras original, pre-edited 'Beautiful' video, which contains two males holding one another and kissing throughout a good portion of the clip was edited to show at most, two seconds of looking into each others eyes. T.A.T.U's 'All The Things She Said' single, which is currently number one in the New Zealand charts, was edited to remove any form of lesbian kissing whatsoever, and shortened considerably.
However, videos which portray heterosexual content, eg. Santana featuring Michelle Branch - The Game Of Love, which contains kissing throughout, are played in full and unedited, which I, and the undersigned find to be a direct form of discrimination.
By signing this petition, you acknowledge that this is unfair, and that the network that displays this hypocrisy, TV2, is at fault and doing nothing to close the divide of homosexual and heterosexual people in our society today by editing out homosexual content and leaving heterosexual content to be displayed.
Thank you.
