Improve the Manchester Tram Service |
To: Serco Metrolink, Serco Limited and Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE)The Metrolink tram service currently provided by Serco and GMPTE between Piccadilly Station and Eccles is unacceptable. There have been frequent delays of typically between 24 minutes up to one hour, almost daily. This is unacceptable, when the published frequency time is supposed to be every 12 minutes.
We understand that there may be occasional service disruptions due to road traffic accidents or essential engineering work, but this cannot be the case everyday. Disruptions or delays due to a shortage of rolling stock (vehicles) are unacceptable for the fare levied on customers, especially with the increase in fares, averaging 3.9\% that was implemented on 27th February 2005.
Metrolink should:
1. Increase the frequency of the Eccles service to every 6 minutes (at least during peak times i.e. before 09.30hrs and after 16.00hrs)
2. Increase the number of vehicles/rolling stock being used on the Eccles line
3. Improve the level of service for customers
