EDC Supports Earth Hour 2009

Energy Development Corporation (EDC) is joining the Earth Hour Movement. This will involve the turning off of the lights on March 28, 2009 at 8:30-9:30pm. This rite will be done simultaneously around the world.

Last year, about 50M people in 400 cities around the world joined the shut off their lights for an hour to campaign for clean energy. About 1M joined from the Philippines. This saved a 56MW power in Luzon alone.

The global targets this year are 1B supporters, 1,000 cities and 75 countries. In the Philippines, the target is 10M people in 100 cities and 500 establishments.

All our 2,753 EDC employees and their families and the host provinces of our geothermal and hydro projects will be ONE in supporting this project.
