A 24-hour library for the University of Edinburgh |
To: The University of EdinburghTo: The University of Edinburgh
The University of Edinburgh has always had a successful and acclaimed academic record. It is consistently named as one of the top UK Universities in the Sunday Times Good University Guide. However, in recent years this has fallen - in 2008 Edinburgh dropped 5 places to 18th in the UK. This is largely because the teaching facilities at our University are lagging behind the rest of the UK.
16 Universities in the UK have 24 hour libraries - Edinburgh needs one too. The University of Edinburgh needs a 24-hour library to give its students the flexibility and space to get a better degree. The library is already too crowded and longer opening hours would help this congestion. Moreover, in this current economic crisis, more students are working longer hours to help pay for their studies - they need a 24 hour library. We already have 24-hour micro labs which are often extremely busy. Edinburgh students deserve the best resources and teaching that is possible - a 24-hour library will show that the Edinburgh University executive are dedicated to achieving this aim.Sincerely,
