STOP THE PROTECTION OF INSURANCE COMPANIES through ERISA LAWS-PROTECT the DISABLED AND ILL

Disability Insurance is a profit making scam by the legalized mafia insurance companies! Have you lived your life healthy? Paid into "Disability Insurance" through your employer for peace of mind should you become ill or disabled? The truth is, if you become ill or disabled, these insurance companies will pay you for about six months, then stop suddenly. They pay incentives to their employees to find reasons to stop your benefits. You will then be ill with no income and have to go through months of their "appeal process" even though you have a documented illness/disability. They can do this because the ERISA laws protect them!
You will then have to obtain an attorney to take the company to court. It's called the "delay, deny, hope they die" game in the insurance world. Meanwhile, you can't buy food, pay for heat or pay your bills. You will be forced to go on public assistance, even though you paid for this "peace of mind" insurance. The only thing you are insuring is million dollar profits for the insurance company and lengthy battles for yourself.
After months/years of fighting, the company is forced to pay the rightful benefits, but that is all they will have to pay you. You have no recourse for the mental, physical and financial harm they put you through while playing their game. Why?? Because the government put in place ERISA. It protects the insurance company. It says they only have to pay you the benefits...nothing more. Thereby encouraging these companies to cut off your benefits. Why shouldn't they? There are NO CONSEQUENCES to these companies for wrongful termination of benefits, quite the opposite...ERISA says "go ahead, cut them off for any reason you want and we will protect you by assuring you do not have any damages against you" They can make your condition worse through the stress of it all, ruin your credit because you can no longer pay your bills, and start the process all over again. The ERISA LAW PROTECTS THEM, they will not have to pay you any damages!
SIGN THIS PETITION TO TELL YOUR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS TO STOP PROTECTING THE INSURANCE COMPANIES WITH ERISA LAWS AND START PROTECTING THE ILL, ELDERLY AND DISABLED. ERISA ALLOWS THIS ABUSE OF DISCRETION BY INSURANCE COMPANIES AGAINST THE DISABLED/ILL BY REWARDING WRONFUL TERMINATION OF BENEFITS WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY OR RECOURSE BY THE INSURED.
This could happen to you someday, you never know what tomorrow can bring...let your Senators and Representatives know the will of the people is for their protection and NOT the protection of insurance company profits. Sign this petition to demand fair disablity insurance laws.
