Support Madonna on Mercy James Adoption Case

Three years ago singer Madonna was heavily criticized by NGOs and by the world press when she began the process of adoption of a baby boy named David Banda, born in Malawi, a then unknown small African country marked by poverty and by the extremely high mortality rates arising from the HIV virus. The criticisms were mainly because the singer was said to be using her fame to try to circumvent local laws in the adoptive process and for taking baby David to live at her house before the time. The regular process of adoption, according to Malawi's law, requires applicants residing in the country for at least two years until the process is fully completed. The criticism, most them cruel and offensive, put into question the singer's
intentions, claiming that it was only "another marketing strategy". And there was no mention to another way of seeing things: maybe she was trying to give the little boy a chance to have a dignified life with a real family
that was prepared to receive him with open arms and heart.
(Many) opinions, news and statements later, David Banda has finally became an official member at Ciccone's family. And nothing else was reviewed.
Nowadays, the same story is happening again - in a more aggressive way, instead. American singer Madonna Louise Veronica Ciconne has recently tried to adopt Mercy James, a baby girl (idade da menina) born in the same place as David Banda. However, Madonna's adoption of baby Mercy James has been denied. Not only has "Committee for Human Rights" claimed that the singer is trying to use her fame to adopt another child but also Mercy James' grandmother has accused the singer of trying to steal her granddaughter from her biological family. About all that controversy, Malawai's government claims that givin Madonna the right of adopting Mercy is to give room for any other foreign person to adopt, which, according to them, would
facilitate the international trafficking of children. Yet, just like them, we give people room for a question: what if pop-star Madonna is really trying to help those poor children, would it be fair to make them lose their lucky break?
We, fans of Madonna's and good causes followers, join in and ask for your support so that Madonna can adopt little girl Mercy James and give her the opportunity of having a better life.
