Eurythmics Fans CD / DVD Release |
To: Eurythmics, Their Management And Record Company
Dear Annie Lennox, dear Dave Stewart, dear management and BMG,
Currently the release of Eurythmics' re-mastered and extended BMG albums 'Sweet dreams', 'Touch', 'Be yourself tonight', 'Revenge', 'Savage', 'We too are one' and 'Peace' have been postponed again. Eight masterpieces that contain timeless classics in a sound quality previously never experienced.
Also the plans to finally release a Eurythmics video clip anthology on DVD are postponed yet again. Eurythmics and BMG released a DVD version of the "Greatest hits" video selection in 1991 but there are many more videos and short films that made the visual art of Eurythmics so legendary, and ahead of its time. The audio and video quality of the "Greatest Hits" DVD doesn't match today's high standards.
A lot of legendary video footage is only available now on used video cassettes such as the "Savage" video album and "We two are one too", and are now becoming hard to obtain. Many clips - even of regular single hits, e.g. their first, "Never gonna cry again", and most recent "I saved the world today" or all of the remix videos e.g. of "I need a man", "Sweet dreams '91" and alternate versions of "Angel" - haven't ever been commercially released so far.
Also lots of remarkable, inspiring and groundbreaking songs of Eurythmics are lost on the flipsides of 20-years old used vinyl and in the archives of the artists and record companies. Those diamonds deserve to be polished and shine in public again.
A lot of artists like U2, David Bowie, Depeche Mode or Pet Shop Boys release re-mastered albums, single b-sides collections and complete video anthologies on DVD with unseen material or audio commentaries at the highest possible audio and video quality standard. Up to now, more than 20 (!) years after "Sweet dreams", Eurythmics haven't managed to attain the exposure of their back catalogue that similar artists have achieved.
Eurythmics fans worldwide keep asking the same question: "Why don't we get to see all of the video clips filmed?", "Why do we have to live with bad copies of copies of old video tapes and records to enjoy our favourite band?" and "Why are BMG not releasing all the singles on cd again?"
"Why not? - They are they most powerful and successful duo of modern pop music and irreplaceable in their visual influence - it is time to prove this to the public with a remarkable package of (re-)releases."
We therefore kindly ask Eurythmics, the management and the record company to release these extraordinary DVD and CDs. With my signature and the above stated reasons we ask for a release. We, Eurythmics fans from all over the world, deserve it!
Sincerely,
