Due to an ever expanding “disposable” market place, it is now time for those of us who are concerned about our planet, to make a stand. Please write your signature below, if you are disgusted by the amount of disposable products on the store shelves. Write your name below if you feel strongly that product packaging has reached ridiculous proportions. Add your name to the list, if you are just sick of the amount of unnecessary waste being generated and then forgotten in countless landfills around this country and the world!

I propose to the federal government of Canada, that all manufacturers of disposable products in Canada, as well as those products imported, should be taxed separately. Such company’s would have to pay more as a penalty. The more disposable the product, the more they would be asked to pay in taxes. I truly believe this to be a fair trade, given the burden that the country is forced to bear as a result of so much waste. The extra tax would then be placed in a fund designed to give back and clean up the mess that these products create. Ideally, this plan would encourage the public to re-use and recycle, rather than pay more as a result of rising prices.

In the search for “faster and easier” in our lives, we are ensuring that the deterioration of our planet be “faster and easier” too!
