On June 9, 2009, Facebook announced that they would be allowing \"Pages\" users to select custom URL\'s for their band, company, or artist page. The announcement stated that, beginning June 13th, 2009, pages with at least 1,000 fans would be given the opportunity to claim their personalized URL. Those with smaller followings were given the following promise:
\"This limitation is temporary. All Pages created after May 31, 2009 or that had less than 1,000 fans on that day will be eligible to claim usernames on Sunday, June 28, 2009 if they have more than 25 fans.\"
June 28th has since passed, and now Facebook has reneged on their promise, even going as far as to delete the statement from their original announcement.
We, the undersigned, demand that Facebook follow through on their own word and provide small businesses, new/indie artists and bands with the same marketing potential given to those with larger followings.
