FIFA World Cup: Flopping Penalty and Concurrent Replay

We petition the honorable FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) to accept the following improvement suggestions to their Word Cup Soccer tournament.


Concurrent-video Replay

We all know soccer to be a great sport in which time delays are few. We also know officiating to be a challenge. To help unite these worthy causes we suggest a second referee off the field of play, but in an elevated position; this referee's purpose is to review video replays concurrent with live-play. He will quickly assist the on-field officials to make correct judgments, and he can correct vital miscalls, such as red cards and penalty kicks. This will improve fan interest, as fans feel satisfied with officiating integrity.


Flopping Penalty

We ask FIFA to institute a stricter penalty for diving, flopping, faking, feigning, play-acting, theatrics, simulation, or by whatever other term it is known. Penalties should include tournament and lifetime expulsion from respectable FIFA competition. Not only is flopping a danger to the fan interest and sportsmanship, but it also adds delays to a game. We love to see wonderful sports with minimal delay.


We petition together the leaders of FIFA to begin healing the wounds of soccer fans all over the world by taking administrative steps to eliminate this cheating and sub par officiating.
